A snippet of my short story Benson –
It had all started with strange appearances and happenstance. He reflected on how it went for his party during the first years after the reckoning. He sat on a recliner sipping from a bottle of scotch he’d found. He caressed the ears of his trusty, almost certainly dead, canine pal. The painkillers had started to work and he’d cleaned and bandaged his wound.
It had been a tough year. His party had dwindled to five and their decision to take on the wardens had back fired spectacularly. Now he was stuck in this cabin trying to work out the significance of Benson’s return.
