For me John Williams is a master of his art. His soundtracks seem to have been woven into the fabric of my childhood. His music has always been there and sometimes I haven’t even realised it was his music.
What I love about his scores are their breathtaking beauty and also versatility. From bombastic and epic (Star Wars), the awe inspiring feeling of discovery (ET, Jurassic Park) to heartbreaking (Schindler’s List).
These are a couple of great ones; The icy Ascent from the Eiger Sanction and The Theme from Schindler’s List (one of my favourite pieces of music, the violin touches my soul every time).
I love John Williams! I saw the Charlotte Symphony perform music from Star Wars, and it was amazing!

I visited Schindler’s enamel factory when I was in Krakow and it was the most moving place I’ve been to. The theme from the film does echo the horror of the events that happened there.

How moving. Yes the music captures the anguish of loss but of course I cannot imagine what it would have been like. This piece reminds me simultaneously of the beauty and brutality of humankind.
