Is it lonely to be a pioneer? I’ve been pondering this recently. And by “pioneer”, I don’t mean it in a boastful, trailblazing sense — not a “look at me, I’m so pioneering” kind of thing. I mean the quieter, community‑rooted kind: the work of building relationships and partnerships, often at the fringes of popular trends or literally at the edges of our communities. When you’re creating new expressions or stepping into spaces others haven’t yet named, you can find yourself breaking new ground — and sometimes, that ground can feel a little solitary.
