Joker’s Flight is the name of my band. We’re currently a duo but occasionally add guests to our line up for live shows as that allows us to combine acoustic songs with a full band sound.
Because you have to do these things to release music we describe ourselves online as Grunge/Folk, as that describes some of our influences. But to be honest you could call it Psychedelic Punk Rock or Sci-Fi Rock and Roll, it doesn’t really matter because categories make good pigeon holes. So I’d say we make music that we enjoy listening too, which is important because one of the main drivers of anything we do is, it must be fun. This is about making the experience creatively positive for my son, who is also my bandmate, and it’s such a wonderful privilege being able to spend time with him, and to write and record music with him. One of our regular guests when performing live is my daughter, so it really is a family affair, and again such a wonderful thing we’re able to do together.
Our debut EP is out now and we are really excited that it’s available as a limited edition vinyl too, via Elastic Stage.
We’re currently planning our fundraiser/record launch event on 31st May and are due back into the studio November this year to record our second EP, Time is an Ocean.
We are hoping this record will have 5 tracks and we’ve written some new songs that we’re excited to explore in the studio. There may even be a grand piano on one of the songs.
We’ve learned a lot about independently releasing the first record and can’t wait to build on this experience.
