Memories up in smoke
Drifting into the sky, joining with the clouds
You weren’t there
but I was
At the chapel you turned your back, on the creaking stairway you interrupt
You weren’t there because you needed something
but I was, if only you could look at me
Now I’m packing up my frustrations, recriminations and accusations.
I’m tying them tight, heading for the river, I’ve included the bricks as dead weights.
Like drowning cats I’m killing my past
Here I am, you are over there
