Joker’s Flight has a new single out — Wish It Was a Fable.
You can watch the lyric video and download the track over on Bandcamp. I’ve always felt that lyrics should speak for themselves, and my hope is that this song finds people in whatever way they need it. At the same time, releasing it felt like an opportunity to highlight an issue that matters deeply to me.
While the song comes from personal reflections, this isn’t a post about my own story. Instead, I want to use this moment to draw attention to the wider impact domestic abuse has on children and young people — an impact that often goes unseen, unheard, or misunderstood. Music can create portals to the past and the future and can be the catalyst for conversations that are difficult to start, and if this release can help spark even one of those conversations, then it’s serving a purpose beyond the art itself.
There are organisations doing remarkable work to educate, support, and protect young people, and one I want to highlight is the Hollie Gazzard Trust.
They work directly in schools and communities, delivering programmes that help young people recognise unhealthy behaviours, understand their own boundaries, and know where to turn for help. Their approach is rooted in compassion and shaped by the founder’s tragic lived experience — transforming loss into meaningful, preventative action.

The song is also about healing, it’s recorded with my son, a reflection on the family I’ve created and the parent I’ve intentionally tried to be. As the song says we’re all ultimately souls searching for love and light. For me, that light comes from my faith, from the Lord, and from the people closest to me — my partner, my children, and the friends who have walked beside me.
Wherever you are in your own journey, I hope you find your version of that light. And if you or someone you know needs support, please know that there are people and organisations ready to listen, ready to help, and ready to stand with you.
