- Catch our EP trailer (and release dates!) on January 9th.
- Then, get ready for the world premiere of our “Maybe Shangri-La” lyric video at midnight on January 26th! 🌃
Recorded live at Yellow Shark Studios with producer Laurence Nelson, we set out to capture the songs via a series of live takes and we’re so pleased with the results, as I think it captures our live energy and it certainly showcases our vocal harmonies and lyric driven sound.
The other aspect I’m most proud of is this record showcases my bandmate, who happens to be my son, and at just 14 years old, he is a multi-instrumental whizz and singing with him is such a joy.
I really can’t wait for people to hear how talented he is, I’m obviously biased, but it has been the creative highlight of my career so far crafting and writing this record with him.
The EP is part one of a planned trilogy of records, and journeys through acoustic soundscapes, alternative rock, and 60s-tinged singer-songwriter vibes, exploring themes of love, protest, and the search for meaning, our maybe Shangri-la…
We’ve created the artwork, based on our own drawings and photography, inspired by the Haight-Ashbury counterculture scene, evoking the spirit of protest, psychedelia and the streets of San Francisco filled with hippies and a call for peace.
It is the energy of this movement and a punk ethos that will see the EP released only in physical formats initially, as we believe this is a cool and creatively interesting way to approach the process of promoting the record.
We will be approaching music blogs and radio stations about the project and of course can make the tracks available for anyone interested in an interview or reviewing the record.
The songs will eventually be available digitally, most probably via Bandcamp, but details will follow once we’ve decided the best route.
Watch this space as we’ll be sharing the release dates, including pre-order options this week.
