
Ocho had a fine reputation on the force, he was a good detective, better than good, he was a great detective. He was dedicated and had an amazing eye for detail, he let nothing pass to chance and turned every stone in the pursuit of justice.
He had another less flattering reputation as an expert in the unusual. Or as the other detectives referred to it, he was the go-to guy for anything “crazy”.
It all stemmed from a childhood incident where Ocho thought he saw a… He could barely admit it to himself after all this time.
He thought he had seen a dragon. And then about a year ago at a crime scene, he was bent down looking for clues and as he stood up he could have sworn he saw a dragon perched on the top of a lamppost, and what was even weirder it seemed to be wearing an old-fashioned Walkman device. He had made the mistake of mentioning this and his childhood recollection, to someone he thought of as a trusted colleague.
Then ever since Ocho had been called the “Crazy” Specialist, or the Dragonologist and as a prank he had all the monster sightings, alien abductions and anything remotely bizarre referred to him, and he’d had enough. He was a serious detective and that was the last time he confided in anyone. Whatever he had seen it did not detract from his ability to do a fine job, and he knew he wasn’t crazy, he knew what he had seen…
