Gruffus couldn’t stand dragons who were tardy and he certainly couldn’t abide dragons who consorted with humans. Poor Erik, who’d got lost on the way and was an hour late, really didn’t stand a chance. After Erik had pleaded his case an excited rumble erupted within the council chamber. This was shattered by Gruffus.

“Silence, you have been infected by humankind half-breed. This problem is of their own making, I say let them rot.”

A rousing cheer went through the room and Erik’s hopes were dashed.
